Purity
This photo implies purity as it does not show anything about the person and only shows the eye. This connotes purity as no action is shown in this image and that is all you know from looking at this image. Purity is also shown through the blue in his eyes and bright highlighting colors. If a brown eye was used instead of the blue it may connotate maturity or wisdom. For this image we used an extreme close up to show his eye and emotion. The over exposure on the skin also connotes a maternity ward where all children are pure, have not been exposed to society yet and are innocent.
This photo connotes love as it is the connection of two hands which symbolizes connection or partnership. The red on the fingernails of the woman in this image shows that she is a woman. The red in this image is also another connotation of love as red is a color which portrays love. We used a higher image to be able to show the hands in clear view. When we took this image we also used a high DOF so that only the hands would be in focus, this shows the importance of just them two and also gives off the effect that they're shutting everything else out.
In this photo, it shows a man being beaten in an arm wrestle. This connotes weakness as he is losing in the arm wrestle and his facial features and expressions show he is struggling or is in some kind of strain. His other hand which is holding onto the table also connotes weakness as he is seeking support from the table and support from something or someone can be a sign of weakness or incapability. For this image we used a lower angle so we would be able to get his facial expressions in the image and be able to show the arm in the shot too. The camera is slanted to show that something is going wrong for him. We used a very low DOF as the focus did not solely need to be on any part of their body and they are not being isolated.
Lewis is connotating loneliness in this image with the fact he is alone. He is also portrayed as lonely with the way he is sitting. It doesn't show him to be clenched up and scared but shows more of a given up and searching for a friend look. He is looking centered and slightly down which may also connotate he is upset or perhaps depressed. For this shot we used a high angle at a distance where we could get enough of his body and surroundings to show that he isnt with anyone. The high angle of the camera shows that he is lower than the camera which also implies that he is low. The dirty colors and grungy textures that surround him also imply that he is upset as its dark and dull colors which suggest a more sorrowful and less upbeat mood. The dullness was used instead of a vibrant color set as if we used a colourful setting it may make him seem a lot happier and ruin the vibe.
This image shows the bond of friendship throughout a greeting, This image connotes friendship, as the fist bump they are giving each other is a sign of respect. Respect is only given to people you find yourself in a mutual bond and is now seen by today's youth as a way to greet your friends. The facial expressions he is showing along with the smile on his face shows that he is pleased to see the person that he is fist bumping which suggests a friendship. This shot was taken at a fair distance so that you can get both the person in the shot along with the fist bump. It was a shot which was in level with the fistbump and the person instead of being higher or lower than them as we are not trying to show their strengths or weaknesses and instead focusing on the friendship and bond the two people share.
