Depict Progress Diary

12/10/16:

Today, we continued working on our storyboards and made a lot of progress in doing so. We had finally decided on what the storyline to our short film was going to be and we also made a few minor changes to the plot that we had originally done. We also may have ran into an issue with where this is going to be set. This production was essentially going to be filmed in the forest next to the nexus engineering college as the sunset would happen around 6/7ish and you would be able to view it through the trees and creates a really nice atmosphere for an establishing shot and gives the start of this short film the vibe that it needs. However, I was informed by my group that we may not be able to get a sunset and film where we need to because we may have to film in college time which means we will not be able to travel down to nexus college and most importantly we will not be able to get the sunset to set the mood at the beginning of the establishing shot so we will need to speak to Sean and see if we are able to film outside of college hours.

13/10/16:

We continued with creating our storyboards and finalized our plot and what would happen in this short 90 second depict film. We also spoke with Sean about being able to film outside of college hours and he said that it would be alright as long as we have it all scheduled and a date is set he is fine with it. We have decided that Monday would be the best day as we are all available. We will be going straight after college and will scout the area or spots to be able to shoot and which part of the forest would be most suitable. We will have to wait until 6:05 for the sun to set. We have checked the weather apps and this is the most accurate time for the sun to set. We will be using the GoPro as we had originally planned, as the head strap is available to use. We have already tested the go pro and it can be digitally controlled from my iPhone so that we can preview and record on the go pro without having to touch it. Out of courtesy, we also emailed the police to let them know where we would be filming and when we would be there so there are no legal complications.

19/10/16:

In todays double lesson we have finished our shoot and have all of the clips. We had to film in the forest opposite the college called the reck forest. This was used as our original shooting place as Nexus forest was too far to reach during lesson time. We would have filmed out of college time but due to us being busy and not being able to film it all in time, it resulted in us using the second choice. We used a few shots which we had originally got from the nexus forest as our establishing shots as it had the sunset through the trees and looked a lot better than the reck.

09/11/16:

Today is the first day i have been in college since i had missed a few lessons of the production. Due to being ill, it meant that i could not participate in the main part i was hoping to do myself. The After Effects part was something i was hoping  to use so that i could edit in the static. Instead of this, Kai and Luca have taken responsibility for this part. They have done a very good job with this static effect considering they have no experience with editing this kind of effects into a production. However, i feel i could have made this look a lot better and a lot more professional if i had made it manually in After Effects. I will ask Sean to see if i will be able to redo the static part of the production and get it re uploaded onto the college.

17/11/16:

I have asked Sean and he has approved and given me permission to be able to redo this part of the Production and Re-Upload it to the college YouTube however, he has said that i have to redo this part in my personal time. I will try to find the time to be able to do this part of the production in my own time as i am unable to do it in lesson even if i had permission due to having a lot of other paperwork and writing work to do for this production.
